Pharmacogenomics

It is the study of how genes affect a person’s response to drugs. Pharmacogenomics combines pharmacology and genomics to develop effective, safe medications and doses that will be tailored to a person’s genetic ability. Pharmacogenomics use is currently quite limited, but new approaches are under study in clinical trials. It aims to optimize patient management by synthesizing drugs and customizing based on genetic variations in drug response. Pharmacogenomics approaches are widely expected to bring about a “revolution” in medicine.
